I am a huge fan of music. Any type of music - seriously. So what is it about a song that gets my attention? It can be the beat; it’s ability to make me want to bust a move; the voice of the singer. Most of the time, it’s the lyrics. I think one of the main reasons I love music is because there are those songs that say everything I’ve been wanting to say at times, but never had the exact words. Or maybe I did, but just not as articulately conveyed as a particular song.
I bought Colbie Caillat’s newest album, “All Of You”, recently. Loving the whole album! She’s such a great songwriter. There are two songs in particular that stuck with me. These songs do not necessarily reflect how I’m feeling currently, but remind me of a time when I did. Here’s one of those songs. Just wanted to share.

“Shadow”
If you wanna leave then just go
‘Cause I can’t get no sun in your shadow
If you ain’t gonna love me and find me
Then I’m gonna turn the other cheek and go
go, go, go
‘Cause I’ve been hanging on the telephone,
Lines that you always told me
Now I can’t let go
I believed in them the last time
You warm me with your words
But now I’m tired and I’m getting cold
So cold
If you wanna leave then just go
‘Cause I can’t get no sun in your shadow
If you ain’t gonna love me and find me
Then I’m gonna turn the other cheek and go
go, go, go
Turn the other cheek and go, go, go
‘Cause every time I push
You hold me just close enough to keep me here
So pull your anchor up
And head to shore or sail away
If you wanna leave then just go
‘Cause I’ve been hanging on the telephone,
Lines that you always told me
Now I can’t let go
I believed in them the last time
You told me you would try
But boy this is getting old
So old
If you wanna leave then just go
‘Cause I can’t get no sun in your shadow
If you ain’t gonna love me and find me
Then I’m gonna turn the other cheek and go, go, go
Turn the other cheek and go, go, go
I’m better off alone
I’m better off alone
